Installing Apollo Group TV on Amazon Firestick / Fire TV
Last updated
A Firestick is the easiest place to start. Allow about eight minutes. The only wrinkle is that Amazon's Appstore doesn't carry IPTV players, so you give the stick permission to install apps from outside Amazon, add Amazon's free Downloader app, and let Downloader fetch the player for you. The menus are the same on every model, from the Fire TV Stick Lite up to the 4K Max and the Fire TV Cube. If you haven't picked a player yet, the comparison of player apps takes a couple of minutes to read and saves you installing two.
Plans from $24.99, or $13.33/month on the yearly plan.

Let the stick install apps from outside Amazon
Fire TV blocks anything that didn't come from Amazon's store until you change one setting. You'll only need to do this once per stick.
- Go to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options
- Turn 'Install unknown apps' on for Downloader (older menus call it 'Apps from Unknown Sources')
- If Developer Options isn't there, open Settings → My Fire TV → About, highlight the device name and press OK seven times until it tells you you're a developer
Add Downloader
Downloader is a free app made by AFTVnews. Because it's listed in Amazon's own store, this part works like any other install.
- Press the magnifying glass on the home screen
- Type 'Downloader', choose the orange icon and press Get
Fetch the player
Open Downloader and enter the code from your activation message (or the player's own web address), then confirm when Fire TV asks whether to install it.
If this is your first IPTV service, go with IPTV Smarters Pro, which is the easiest to find your way around. People who mostly watch live channels tend to prefer TiviMate's cable-style grid, and the TiviMate on Fire TV walkthrough covers that one.
Pick the Xtream Codes option in the player. A few apps tuck it away under 'Add playlist'.
- Name: whatever you like; 'Apollo' works fine
- Username and password: copy them exactly, capital letters included
- Server address: keep the http:// at the front and the port number at the end
- Save, and give the app a minute or so to load the channels, films and guide
The username, password and server address all come from the WhatsApp message we send after your order goes through. Keep that message to yourself: anyone who has those details can use one of your plan's connections.
Close the door again
You can now go back into Fire TV settings and turn 'Install unknown apps' off for Downloader; the player stays installed. While you're there, pin it to the home row so nobody in the house has to go looking for it.
