Decoding Apollo Group TV Errors: 403, 400 and Timeouts
Last updated
The numbers a player app shows sort into four groups. Either the server didn't accept your login (401, 403), the address the app used is wrong (400, 404), your network couldn't reach the server (timeouts, 504), or the server itself had a temporary fault (500 to 503). If you're looking at a 403, the likely causes are a plan that has ended, a login with a typo in it, or more screens playing than your plan allows. Find your code in the table, then work through that group's steps. Everything here applies to Apollo Group Television lines bought on apollogrouptelevision.us and played in TiviMate, IPTV Smarters or a similar player; another provider's app may word its errors differently.
Plans from $24.99, or $13.33/month on the yearly plan.

Login refused: status code 403 (and 401)
With these codes the server received your request and refused it. Try the steps in order, testing playback after each one:
Has the plan ended?
Nothing renews automatically on our plans. Once your days are used up, the server answers everything with 403. Top up your Apollo Group TV days and it starts working again.
Paste the login from your message
Copy the username and password straight from your activation message instead of typing them. Capital letters matter, and a hidden space at either end is enough for the server to refuse you.
See how many screens are playing
Your plan streams on a set number of screens at once. If the bedroom TV and a phone are already on, the third device gets refused. Stop one, or read how many devices each plan allows.
Test without the VPN
Certain VPN servers get blocked. Turn the VPN off for a minute, or choose another location, and try again. The Apollo Group TV VPN guide shows how to tell whether it's the culprit.
Turn the router off for 30 seconds
Unplugging it usually gives your home a new IP address, which clears any short-term block on the old one.
Reset the playlist in the app
Clear the player's cache in its settings. Then remove and re-add your playlist, so the app logs in from zero.
If you still get 403 after all six steps, WhatsApp us a photo of the error with your device and username. Don't send your password; we never need it.
Wrong address: status code 400 (and 404)
A 400 means the server couldn't make sense of the request, which in practice almost always comes down to a typo in the server address. A 404 is different: a channel or film has moved and the app is still pointing at its old location.
- Check the server address against your activation message one character at a time. It starts with http:// and ends with a colon and a port number; both parts matter.
- Look for stray spaces too. Phone keyboards like to add one after a full stop.
- If you sign in with an M3U link, paste it in one piece. Missing even the last character produces a 400.
- Rather than editing a broken playlist entry, delete it and add a new one.
- For a 404 on a single channel, reload the playlist so the app picks up the current channel locations.
Connection timeout
A timeout means the app sent its request and waited, but no reply came back in time. Narrow down where the connection fails:
- Check whether it happens on one device or all of them. If it's only one, restart it and clear its player cache.
- Reboot the router too, then test with a network cable or on the 5 GHz band.
- Set the DNS in the device's network settings to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8). A poor DNS server causes a lot of timeouts.
- Turn off Wi-Fi on your phone and try on mobile data. If the app connects that way, your home internet provider is interfering, and the VPN guide explains what to try next.
- If nothing connects on any device or network, tell us and we'll check the line from our end.
A 429 belongs in this group as well. It appears when you flick through channels faster than the server allows; wait a minute and it clears.
A picture that plays but keeps stopping to load is buffering rather than a timeout, and our buffering and streaming fixes deal with that.
Server fault: 500, 502 or 503
These codes come from our side of the connection, so changing settings on your TV won't make a difference. Wait about five minutes and try again, and let us know if the error is still there.
Codes we can't explain
433, 456, 458 and similar numbers aren't standard web status codes. What they mean depends on the app showing them, and we won't guess. The login steps above clear most unusual codes, so try those first, and send us a screenshot if the number keeps coming back.
Asking us for help
We can help faster if your message includes:
- a picture of the error on screen,
- which device and player app you're using,
- when it started,
- your username (never the password).
WhatsApp and email are both on the contact page.
