Installing Apollo Group TV on iPhone / iPad

Last updated

On an iPhone or iPad you get a player from the App Store and then enter the same Xtream Codes details you'd use on any other device. We usually point people to Smarters Player Lite, which is free and keeps its menus simple. Because iOS lets it carry on in picture-in-picture, you can leave a game running in the corner while you check your email or follow a map. Five minutes is plenty.

Plans from $24.99, or $13.33/month on the yearly plan.

01Setting up iPhone / iPad

  1. 1

    Download Smarters Player Lite

Search the App Store for 'Smarters Player Lite' and tap Get. It's free, and you don't need to buy anything inside the app to watch Apollo Group TV.

  2. 2

    Choose the Xtream Codes login

Open the app and tap 'Login with Xtream Codes API'.

  3. 3

    Enter your line

Pick a name for the profile, then type or paste your username, password and server address.

Copy these from the activation message we send on WhatsApp rather than typing them from memory. Please don't forward that message to anyone, because each person signed in with it takes up a connection on your plan.

  4. 4

    Turn on picture-in-picture

Start a channel and swipe up to the home screen. If the video doesn't shrink into a little window, go to iPhone Settings → General → Picture in Picture and turn on 'Start PiP Automatically'.

  5. 5

Send it to the big screen

While something's playing, tap the AirPlay icon to send it to an Apple TV or an AirPlay-compatible TV on the same Wi-Fi.

Questions and answers

Common iPhone / iPad problems

Smarters Player Lite isn't in my App Store

IPTV players on iOS get renamed, or pulled from some countries' stores, every so often. Message us and we'll tell you which player is available where you are right now, with steps for that one.

AirPlay sends the sound but not the picture

Some players block AirPlay video. Try Screen Mirroring from Control Center instead, or put a player on the Apple TV itself so the phone isn't involved at all. The Apple TV setup takes around seven minutes.

The app asks for a 'URL' rather than a server

It means the server address. Paste it from your activation message with the http:// and the port included.

The stream stops when I lock the phone

iOS pauses video in the background unless picture-in-picture is running. Shrink the video into its floating window before you lock the phone or switch apps, and it will keep playing.

The app asks for local network access

Allow it. AirPlay needs that permission to find your Apple TV or smart TV, and without it the AirPlay button may not list any devices.
