Installing Apollo Group TV on Windows / Mac Computer

There are two routes on a Windows PC or a Mac. VLC opens your M3U playlist without any sign-up, which makes it a good way to check that the line works. If you'd like categories, a TV guide and a separate profile for each person at home, install the desktop version of IPTV Smarters instead. Both are free, and either takes about six minutes.

    Quick test with VLC

    Install VLC from videolan.org, open the network stream dialog and paste your M3U address.

    • Windows: Media → Open Network Stream
    • Mac: File → Open Network
    • Press Play and the first channel starts

    Day-to-day viewing with IPTV Smarters

    Download IPTV Smarters for Windows or macOS from its developer's website, and choose the Xtream Codes login when it opens.

    Add your line

    Fill in the username, password and server address from your activation message, then click Add User.

    Copy these from the activation message we send on WhatsApp rather than typing them from memory. Please don't forward that message to anyone, because each person signed in with it takes up a connection on your plan.

    Go full screen

    Double-click the picture in either app. In VLC, pressing F does the same thing.

Common Windows / Mac Computer problems

VLC only ever plays the first channel

That's how VLC opens a playlist. Press Ctrl+L on Windows, or go to Window → Playlist on a Mac, to see every channel and pick a different one. If you want a proper guide, IPTV Smarters is the better choice.

Can I watch in Chrome, Safari or Edge?

Not reliably, because browsers can't play most IPTV stream formats. Stick with one of the two apps.

The stream lags on my laptop's Wi-Fi

Plug in an Ethernet cable if you can, or move closer to the router. If it's still choppy, the streaming fixes page covers decoder and buffer settings.

Can VLC record what I'm watching?

It can. On Windows, turn on View → Advanced Controls and press the red record button while the channel plays. On a Mac, use Playback → Record. The files end up in your Videos or Movies folder.

Where should I download IPTV Smarters for desktop?

From its developer's own website and nowhere else. Download mirror sites often bundle adware or modified copies with the installer, and you'll be typing your login into whatever you install.

Can I watch on a second monitor?

Drag the player window across to the other screen and go full screen there. Your main screen stays free for work.
